Respect Life is a fundamental initiative within the Catholic Church that emphasizes the inherent dignity and value of every human life from conception to natural death. Rooted in the teachings of Christ, the Respect Life program encourages Catholics to understand, cherish, and advocate for the sanctity of life at all stages. Through prayer, education, and action, St. Hedwig church seeks to build a culture of life that respects and protects the most vulnerable among us. This initiative is supported by various resources, designed to help us engage their communities in promoting and upholding the sacredness of human life.

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born, I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you."          Jeremiah 1:5

Respect Life: Called to Protect and Defend Life

As followers of Christ, we are called to be His light in a world that often devalues human life, especially those who are most vulnerable—the unborn, the elderly, the sick, and the marginalized. Every human being is created in the image and likeness of God and is deserving of dignity and protection, from conception to natural death.

Our faith compels us to not only pray for those whose lives are threatened but also to act with love and compassion. Through reflection, prayer, and concrete actions, we can help build a culture that respects and defends life at every stage.

Join us in this sacred mission by visiting respectlife.org/celebrate Together, we can be the hands and heart of Christ, advocating for life and embracing those in need.

Respect Life October Events

In October, the Catholic Church asks us to to reflect more deeply on the dignity and gift of every human life.

"How do we build a Culture of Life?  Changing the culture is a process of conversion that begins in our own hearts. When we encounter Christ, experience His love, and deepen our relationship with Him, we become more aware of our own worth and that of others. His love for each person is cause for great joy, and growing understanding of this priceless treasure motivates us to share His love with others. Our lives are often changed by the witness of others; so too, others' lives may be changed by our witness and authentic friendship with them. Let us go, therefore, and not be afraid. God is always with us. " www.respectlife.org/culture-of-life

  • A Prayer for Life to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament

O Jesus, you came that we might have life—and have it in abundance. Together with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you form us in our mothers' wombs and call us to love you for all eternity.

As your most precious gift of human life is attacked, draw us ever closer to your Real Presence in the Eucharist. Dispel the darkness of the culture of death, for you are the light that shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.

By the power of your Eucharistic Presence, help us to defend the life of every human person at every stage. Transform our hearts to protect and cherish all whose lives are most vulnerable.

For you are God, forever and ever. Amen.
