The Catholic Church teaches that marriage between two baptized persons is a sacrament. Marriage contributes to society because it models the way women and men live interdependently and commit, for life, to seek the best for each other.
"Your wedding lasts a day, but your marriage lasts a lifetime." The Church encourages couples to invest time and energy into the all-important work of preparing for their married life together.
For couples planning to marry in the Catholic Church, please contact your parish priest six to nine months before your anticipated wedding date to begin the marriage preparation process. Catholics wishing to enter into the Sacrament of Matrimony should download our Preparing for Matrimony Guidelines booklet (coming soon), which provides specific details regarding the celebration of the sacrament at Saint Hedwig. Please contact the parish office for an appointment with one of the priests at least six months in advance of the proposed wedding date. You should not book a reception hall before confirming the date with a priest.
